Title: Great Book to get Inside Paris Info
Review: We have been so disappointed with travel services that claim to know a country and try to plan an itiniery. They just touch the surface, and surprisingly they do not have books like this. We will plan our own trip with this and a few other books bought on Amazon. (Check out DK Eyewitness series). By enjoying a few hours of reading and the planning experience, I’m sure that we will have an immensely better trip than what the travel services advertise.Lots of good tips in this book, but not all encompassing. You will still need an overall city guides. This book is worth buying if you like a more local experience, to avoid spending too much time on tourist attractions.Also, a trip to Paris is not cheap, so investing in a few resources like this to ensure a good trip is a necessity.

Title: Nice book but found some errors.
Review: We went on the subway out of our way to a store described as a sneaker store. When we arrived they had 3 pairs of women’s and one pair of men’s sneakers. Perhaps the store stopped offering a full selection since the book was written.

Title: Left it in the trash at at the hotel
Review: As long time DK Press readers with books on most of the major sites and cities across Europe, US, and South Asia, we thought this would be a refreshing new addition.Unbearable to read and clearly aimed specifically at a young, single-minded demographic, it lacks any real usefulness for a broad audience. We have visited Paris dozens of times and were excited to read a new DK installment for different angles on an ageless city.Half the book, literally, is for insta-worthy, trendy-this-week boutique food and drink visits – we can get this info any time from any online review source – with updated hours – and most of these places wonât last a year in a city that has changing whims and demanding clientele.The book has heavily editorialized viewpoints that add absolutely nothing to the travelerâs understanding of context but rather highlights the opinion of naïve contributors.The smallest section, which hilariously is about âhistorical sitesâ, includes a few useful and intriguing new locations (like the history of black culture in Paris – this was a solid and fascinating untold history that needs more attention). But all of the sites were clearly curated to highlight only the most recent social exhibits, with preachy pleading prose rather than matter of fact detail.Favorite part: the only âhistoricalâ attraction that was over 10 years old is a landmark cathedral which has a number of on site burials. The book carefully points out that of the 75 or so burials, only a few are female. It actually goes on to state âdespite this male bias, you may still find interest…âNah.

Title: A Waste of Money
Review: Worst guidebook I’ve ever purchased. The print is small and light, making it difficult to read. It’s bound in hard cover and difficult to open. Descriptions are very limited and truly not enough to entice or guide you. Seriously, why go to Paris for “global grub”? Don’t waste your money.
