Amazfit Bip S Review : smart health watch for everyone at low prices
Huami has built its reputation by selling more than 100 million smartphones, but also smart watches on a budget. A strategy faithful to that of the parent company Xiaomi with a very wide offer in smart health connected objects.
Presented at CES 2020, with the Amazfit T-Rex (military style) that I presented to you in January, Xiaomi offers us a really affordable smart health connected watch, perfect for a first experience.
Amazfit Bip S: a rectangular design in the Apple Watch style
It takes all the good sides of its smart health connected bracelet, the best selling in the world the Mi Band (now in version 5), but this time with a little Apple Watch look (a habit of the Chinese giant). But, at this price, the quality felt is in relation.
The plastic body is light (only 31g) and durable to the touch, while the strap is quite comfortable around the wrist. It is also waterproof up to 5 ATM, which means it can survive a swim in the pool.
There is a single button on the right of the watch – which does not rotate, so you cannot scroll through the menus with it – while the display is a touch screen.

Huami explains that this has increased the color gamut of the screen (compared to the original beep), but it’s not the color display that makes the punch in smart watches. It looks washed out and the resolution is low, but it remains legible.
The on-screen interface is simple to use, and a bit slow. The graphics are simple, but there are a variety of options, including tracking workouts, step tracking, heart rate monitoring, phone notifications, stopwatch, compass, weather and music playback controls.

Amazfit Bip S autonomy
The included battery has a capacity of 200 mAh which means, according to the company’s own accounts, up to 40 days of use under ideal conditions thanks to several optimizations of energy use including the new sensor biometric for continuous cardiac measurements and which means up to 80% savings compared to the previous generation.
Another important benefit is the battery life, Huami says the Amazfit Bip S can last up to 40 days on a single charge. This lifespan decreases considerably if you use GPS regularly, but that means you will probably only need the charger a few times a month.
E-health activity monitoring
The Amazfit Bip S supports 10 training modes. It provides the main activity monitoring data:

- Heart rate with excessive heart rate alerts,
- Distance.

First review Amazfit Bip S
Admittedly its look and its materials are basic, but at less than 60 $ it is the only smart health connected watch to carry a heart rate sensor and a GPS. All in an ultra light and waterproof case and bracelet.
We will especially choose it for its price, perfect for going to sports without fear of damaging its more upscale watch, to please children, but also for a first smart health connected watch and discover its possibilities.
