Title: Fun way to see Paris through the eyes of celebrities from the past
Review: I wish I had gotten this book before my last trip to Paris, because it’s perfect for exploring. It’s small enough to fit into a purse or backpack and is categorized with stories and maps of the places that iconic celebrities frequented. Coco Chanel, Hemingway, Picasso, Josephine Baker, Audrey Hepburn and 20 others are included in this fun little book! I am definitely taking it next time I visit Paris!

Title: Dream Walks in Paris – Go There By Reading
Review: Perfect strolls about Paris which will be a treat to those who have been and those who plan to go – full of insights about French celebrities of generations past. Good clear maps, charming anecdotes about all sorts of people from various walks of life who traversed these boulevards, ate in these cafes (many still open for business), mourned or were mourned in such grand houses of worship. A book definitely for those who love Paris, not to be missed. My only faults with it, if you could call it that, is that it lacks the birth and death years of each celeb, so I made my own list to paste inside the cover (i.e., Matisse 1869 – 1954) – a sense of time helps while reading the biographies. I also made another list of cafes so I don’t walk past them unawares on future jaunts. Ah, Paris!

Title: The perfect little book to take with you on your next trip
Review: I really love this book. I came across it right before our last trip to Paris. We had a short stay planned there before continuing our journey and my fiance and I both know Paris fairly well. This book was the perfect tool to discover Paris beyond the usual tourist attractions. We had a limited amount of time and we both love Hemingway so we decided to follow his Paris. So much fun!!! It was a bit cold but there were enough cafe along the way to grab a drink. Our stop at La Cloiserie des Lilas was so charming an the mojitos were delicious! The book is really good quality and the facts along with the map are quite interesting. I also like the fact that it is the perfect size to travel with. No doubt I will take it with me again next time and I am looking forward to take other walks (Balzac and Hugo are on my list). I would highly recommend it to my friends and anybody who would like to discover Paris the way everybody should…walking and taking in the beauty and history of the city!

Title: Charming Book for Parisian Dreams, Travel Plans, or Actual Walks
Review: This book traces walks through Paris for a couple of dozen well-known people over the last several centuries. I’m not sure there is any other city where you could still walk down the streets and see the buildings that were there hundreds of years ago. It was fun on my last trip there to take these walks, retracing the routes taken by Hemingway, Julia Child, Marie Antoinette…well, you can read the blurb for yourself. Each walk has two pages about the historical figure, a page with a nice, clear map, and a page with detailed descriptions of what’s to be seen along the way.

Title: Great Guidebook
Review: If you are a walker, like history and going to Paris, this book is for you. I have walked many of these routes and looking forward to several more. Title: which nevertheless are a useful guide to seeing Paris in a meaningful way
Review: A somewhat idiosyncratic set of walks, which nevertheless are a useful guide to seeing Paris in a meaningful way. The selection might have benefitted from a stronger thematic focus, such as painters only, writers only, politicians only, etc., etc.–but walks were clearly outlined on a map, and the descriptions and background useful.

Title: Awesome
Review: There are 25 stories about 25 different individuals that either lived in Paris or have an association with Paris. If you buy this prior to going to Paris you can use it as the walking guide as it was intended. I didn’t read it until after visiting Paris, but still thoroughly enjoyed reliving all of the places the book describes. The book provides great maps and directions and even tells you which metro stops to use, which is the ONLY way to truly get around Paris. This book helped me remember just how great Paris was/is and how much I want to go back. Highly recommended.

Title: Not practical for Kindle
Review: For me the Kindle version is worthless. I should have bought the actual book. My wife and I used it yesterday on my iPhone Kindle app because my Kindle is the original b/w version and the map was not useful. Turns out the map in the iPhone app was not useful either. It is at the end of the descriptions so you have to keep scrolling to the end and back. The actual written directions were vague in many spots, so I had to constantly go back and forth to the phone app to find our way. Some of the stops were pathetic substitutions. For example, we were following Audry Hepburn’s film locations. Since she famously worked with Givenchy, the description took us to a Givenchy store that happened to be on the route. But most other stops were quite interesting, as they were either filing locations or her favorite spots in Paris. It would be helpful if the walks in the Table of Contents included an indication of the arrondissment where it is located.

Review: This book came to me in Kindle form. Ideal format as you can walk with the kindle as it is very portable and accesible. A trade off is in the maps which accompany the text are a little small. Anyone who knows Paris can always refer to a larger map if required. The subjects of the book are various and there are other less well known characters such as Julia Childs, the American food writer and Josephine Baker and more for example. These come as an interesting addition to the more famous such as Chanel, Hemmingway, Picasso etc. The text is concise and informative and relate well to the well designed maps, albeit small as i mentioned. If you love Paris…you wouldn’t be reading this if you don’t, then buy this book. Amongst the hundreds of other titles on the city, this one comes pretty high up on my list.

Review: Looks like a really useful and helpful book of interesting walks in the lovely city of Paris! Should be fun to follow in the footsteps of so many famous residents of the past! Can’t wait to try it out on our next trip to that fabulous city! Clearly laid out and the maps and information about each walk look excellent! It is a good pocket size and being hard cover should last well in repeated use.
