Title: Take this book to Paris!
Review: I’m in Paris as I write this and I’m so happy to have this little guide book along. A couple of the “secrets” have either closed or are under renovation, but the book has introduced me to lots of gems. Who knew about the little street “Rue du Chat qui Peche,: let alone the fact that it was built in 1540 to give people access to the Seine? I highly recommend this book to anyone who is planning a trip to Paris. Of 500 secrets, some are sure to be of interest to everyone.Jane Louise Newhagenauthor of Sand Dollar and Pieces of Eight, tales of old Key West

Title: Wish I had this on our last trip to Paris….
Review: Excellent book. Descriptions, directions, photos…just lovely. Although we did not have it on our last month long trip to France where our base was Paris, they did mention some places we found ourselves & they were right on the money. We have found that asking the locals (who are so very charming & nice) where they would go for various things, introduces you to the real Paris. Great little book.

Review: We visited so many of the places in this book and were not disappointed. Very good recommendations of places to go that are not necessarily touristy. If you are into doing things in Paris that are more in line with where the Parisians go, this is the book for you.

Title: so hidden the secrets have disappeared….
Review: I know Paris well, but the idea of this guidebook was interesting especially for the alternative art venues to visit. I bought and used the 500 hidden secrets of Copenhagen last summer and it was AMAZING–every address was excellent and I have since recommended it to friends who thought the same thing. When I found out this was a series I was really excited to try this one.I found this book incredibly disappointing. 3 of the 5 art venues I chose to go to were closed and out of business. Luckily I did some preliminary checking of times etc. otherwise I would have completely wasted my time. We did one of the romantic restaurants–Chez Julien which was overall another disappointment. The place itself is gorgeous, but the 16 year old waitress(super inappropriate and wierd), the $50 chateaubriand steak that came black and totally over cooked–(I am bilingual and ordered it “a point” so it wasn’t a language american problem) were very disappointing. The kid section of the book was useless for us. The other restaurants were totally overbooked for months so we couldn’t get in so overall the one address we used didn’t quite justify buying this book. I also think not including ANY art museums is a misstep–there are some lovely small gems that most people might not know about.
