Title: Very useful book to discover Paris
Review: We just got back from Paris and used this book to guide some of our walks. In short — it’s definitely a very useful book to escape the typical tourist crowds and enjoy a bit of Paris as locals live it (or so it seemed). It does have a feel of getting tips from a friend who lives in the city and knows the nice spots. For example, we were very impressed with the Belleville & Buttes-Chaumont walk — the parks are beautiful and provide a nice break from the hectic museums. The suggestions for Montmartre were useful as well: for example, start at the top of the hill and make it downstairs as opposed to upstairs — simple advice, but very helpful. Saint-Germain-des-Pres was aslo a nice walk — especially, Jardin du Luxemburg and the Ecole Nationale Superiore Des Beaux-Arts. The latter is not very obvious to find, but was very interesting to visit and see how the projects by the students and their church studio. On another walk during the night of the museums — the Museum of Hunting and Nature was a blast of surrealism! :)The maps in the book are not very detailed. n some cases, but it was not a problem for me because I was using google maps in conjunction. Another advice is to check if/when the places on the route open — sometimes the cafes/shops/art galleries mentioned in the book were either permanently closed, or closed at the time when we were there. For example, Le Plateau on page 93 is only open Wednesday to Sunday, 2â7pm. Bugada & Cargnel looked promising, but is currently closed to public. Bottom line — check the places before you head out.

Title: Best Paris Guide Yet
Review: This is a perfect travel guide in so many ways. I own several guides but have never sat down and read one cover-to-cover. I not only did that with this book, but have since ordered three more for friends as gifts. The watercolor paintings are charming, the text is very well written, the research really highlights spots of interest and is divided into do-able walks, and the book size is good for packing. Iâm hoping this duo will write more travel guides just like it! Great book!!

Title: Great for exploring the neighborhoods.
Review: Loved the book carried it every day of our trip. Back pocket sized. Especially good for exploring a neighborhood like a walk though the Marais, Saint Germain, or Montparnasse, not so useful for venue specific info such as how to do the Louvre. It wonât give you the details on a Museum pass or using the metro but it will steer you into great little parks, past interesting smaller shops and into some excellent snacks and lunches (many at relative bargains). I found the print easy to read. The maps are not designed to replace a your gps, or a metro map, but they are helpful and pretty, think restaurant placemat map not street map. I would not recommend this as anyones primary info source go online or buy Rick Steves or similar. However if you are looking to add some flavor, go a bit off the beaten track, never be at loss as to where to next / what else is around here then this Is a great little book to add to your trip.

Title: See more of the real Paris – and skip the standing on line
Review: This book provides fantastic destinations that are not the crowd-packed destinations covered in the standard Paris guides. The authorsâ organization of destinations by walking an Arrondissement makes it easy to learn Paris more like a local than a tourist – and you can quickly locate destinations in the book while afoot because of the map in front and table of contents. Though there are too many places to take in on one trip, every recommendation is high quality, from quirky shops to off-the-beaten path historical destinations to wonderful shops and eateries. I brought back Jacques Genin chocolates as gifts and wear a daily reminder of Le Slip Français. Restaurant Kunitoraya is not to be missed for its udon dishes – despite the waiting line. I have to believe similar for LâAs du Fallafel since the line was too long both times I tried to get there. Belleville/Butte-Chaumont was delightfully ethnic and, as well-described by the authors, more down-to-earth than the downtown destinations. The list of wonderful places I visited because of this book is too long but every experience the highest quality. This book deserves high praise even though I am sad that it will become a victim of its own success – I so enjoyed visiting the destinations without the crowds. I have gifted this book twice to travelers to Paris. I return to it regularly back home to reminisce about the places I visited – and make plans for my return.

Title: The best way to get to know a city is by walking and Paris is a city made for that!
Review: I read about this book in a New York Times article and purchased it about a year even before I ended up going to Paris. I knew I would eventually go but I just wasn’t sure when that would be.I finally made it there at the end of October 2019 and brought this book along with me. Its a self guided walking tour of the different Parisian neighborhoods. It was the perfect travel guide for Paris as I was able to do 2 of the self guided walks in the book – St Germain des Pres and 1st/2nd arrondissement. I made a custom Google Maps using the addresses provided in the book, which gave me easy to follow walking directions. The maps in the book are more of the artwork by the authors. I would say the walks can be easily worked in while visiting sights such as Louvre or Orsay Museum. Planning on having this book on future visits to Paris.

Review: This book covers many of the standard attractions that most travel books have and then covers a few more like Berthillon or Marriage Freres. The illustrations are wonderful and it has self guided walking tours that cover the entire city.

A nice little surpriseWhen I initially ordered this book I thought it would be much bigger, sort of like a coffee table decoration book. it is much smaller, but still very very cute. I received it on time, and even though it is second hand, it is in very good condition.

Review: This was the guide I used on my first trip to Paris. Not everything that was listed was still there when we got there, some restaurants had changed hands, but it got us to places that even my friends who visit Paris regularly hadn’t known about. Great little book
