Title: Adorable even for teens and adults
Review: I purchased this for a teenager headed to Paris and read the whole thing myself when it arrived! It provides quick snippets of information, nothing complicated but some really intriguing info! Yes, itâs really geared toward the under 12 audience, but I think anyone who has not been to Paris would enjoy it. My goal was to provide a high level overview, so the teen could better answer the question, âWhat do you want to do and see in Paris other than the Eiffle Tower?â I think the book will be just the ticket for that!!!

Title: She liked it so much
Review: My eight-year-old devoured this before our trip to Paris! It was very accessible and made the city come alive for her. She liked it so much, I read it as well, and I was glad I did. There’s a lot of useful information and fun trivia. I will look for these books before every trip with our kids.

Title: LOVE. Worth the luggage space!
Review: Our daughter (6 and a half) loved this book on our recent trip to Paris. The fun facts were fun for us grown-ups as well! It made a great read at bedtime as well as on trains, planes, and automobiles. A great way to engage kids in history and introduce them to a new land!

Title: Good to read before going
Review: Good to read before going. My 14 year old actually liked it but the 11 year old was not interested. A map would be a great help, however.

Title: Not well organized
Review: This was disappointing from a company like Lonely Planet. It was cute, but not particularly informative. Each section was supposed to be connected by a theme, but the threads were loose, at best. And there was not a single map! There were arrows from one item to another, but that’s it. My 6th grader found in useless for our trip to Paris last month. I’ve happily used Lonely Planet guides for 50 years. Avoid this one.

Title: Fun Getting to Know Paris
Review: This book caught my eye on the âNew Booksâ table at my local library. I thought it would be good for my nine year old as she is learning French and this looked like an interesting cultural book to complement her learning. I started flicking through some of the pages and found myself immersed in the streets of Paris discovering museums, bridges, cafés and even cemeteries! The book contains nineteen themed trails through Paris. Each trail has a number of stops with some information about each location. Some of the locations are well-known, such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, while others are somewhat obscure, but all were fascinating. These trails had every possible interest covered, from food journeys, sport, and art to romance, history and magic. The layout and content are superbly presented, with short bursts of texts, interspersed with plenty of photos and coloured illustrations throughout. There are also fact boxes and extra tidbits around the main text. I really liked the illustrations, which included the two kiddy guides, Marco and Amelia. You can spot this pair participating in various activities along the trails. All of the illustrations were bright, colourful and clear; some were quite funny too.Iâve never wanted to go to Paris as badly as I do right now! I would love to follow these trails and experience all of the incredible sights, sounds, smells and tastes Iâve discovered in Paris City Trails. It may be aimed at children, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it for anyone planning to travel to Paris with children (and anyone just dreaming of it!)Paris City Trails is suitable for middle primary school students and up. There are currently two other titles available in the Lonely Planet Kids series; London City Trails and New York City Trails. I plan to read them as well and hopefully there will be more titles available in the future. Iâd really like to see some for other major European cities.

Review: We loved this guide! Our son is 6 and it was his first time in Paris, but this guidebook will last and last for a few more trips. It’s not just a list of facts or places (you need a map to go with it), but is made up of a series of themes, covering the whole city. We went to a few things simply because they looked intriguing in the book (the Arts et Metiers line 11 station, for example, which looks like a Jules Verne submarine, or some of the weird and wonderful sculptures on bridges), and enjoyed quoting ‘did you know?’ things out of it to each other. On a practical note, it’s pretty sturdy, and also has lots of space for sellotaping tickets etc as souvenirs afterwards!

Review: Lovely book with lots of interesting and unusual facts about Paris – my 6 year old daughter loves it. We looked at it a bit in Paris, but we’re now reading it at bed time after our trip to Paris last week.
