Title: Beautifully written and incredibly informative
Review: Not only does this book include some awesome recipes, but having just returned from Paris I was amazed to find so many spot-on and timely recommendations. I had downloaded the Patricia Wells Food Lover’s Guide to Paris on my iPhone before my journey and found it very helpful. This is an even more comprehensive version of that with recipes to boot. Bravo!

Title: Excellent guide
Review: As a frequent traveler to Paris (leaving in a few days) I wanted an update guide. The book did direct me to new and exciting places. I did dislike the break up of the sections, preferring as it is in other guides that the bistros, bars, shops etc. were grouped by location so that I could plan my dining and shopping without searching through the assorted section to coordinate each arrondissements adventures. Definitely an exceptional guide written by an excellent author. I love all of Ms. Wells books.

Title: Patricia Wells did it again!
Review: I’ve had a couple of wonderful French recipe books written by Patricia Wells and loved them. A couple of months ago, a young friend of mine said she wanted to go to Paris with me next year. I go often, so I kind of know my way around, and as far as I’m concerned, there’s no such thing as going too often to Paris! Since my friend is a “foodie” and swears I’m one too, she wants to go to as many patisseries, boulangeries, fromageries, etc., we can fit in. I thought I’d check Amazon and see what books they had on the subject. Turns out that Patricia Wells’ most recently edited and updated version of The Food Lover’s Guide to Paris (2014) had just shown up on Amazon, so I grabbed it fast! It’s wonderful, of course, and I second all the comments other reviewers have made regarding the previous edition. I think I particularly like the fact that the sections are broken into the different arrondisements, which seems like a really great idea. You’ll spend hours reading this book, from cover to cover. Tons of photos, recipes, etc. I can’t imagine anyone reading this book and not wanting to fly to Paris – of which I heard Arthur Frommer say years ago is “The most glorious city in the world!” Truer words were never spoken!

Title: recommendations were not helpful
Review: not helpful and several of the recommendations were repetitive (mini–chains). many of the recommendations were poorly reviewed on Yelp (although Yelp is not always a good rating system for international trips). I wish I could get my money back. waste of money.

Title: Updated Version is a Gem
Review: I have two previous versions of this book and have loved them. I was getting worried that there would not be a new edition, but not only is there a new edition there is a lot that has been updated. Paris seems to have changed quite a bit since the last book came out and this new guide picks up all of that. It looks like many if not most of the recipes in the book are new as well, I have liked most everything I have tried from them.I have used them prior to trips to Paris to set an itinerary of where to eat and shop in various neighborhoods. I have taken them with me on trips, but keep them in the hotel as they are a bit large to carry about. This new edition is about the same size and will likely get treated in the same manner.

Review: Arrived quickly. Overall it looks like a good primer with more information than you would ever need. I haven’t tried out any of the restaurants yet so I don’t know how accurate it is. It is nicely broken down by category, then by arrondisment. She also provides examples of what to order which seems like they will be helpful.

Title: Our Go-To Book in Paris
Review: I owned a previous edition of this book and used it for a trip to Paris in 1995. Using that book as our guide, we gathered supplies in specialty markets near our hotel for a picnic in a local park. This book made it easy to do because it’s arranged by category – for example: cheese shops, chocolate shops, street markets. In each category it’s divided by arrondisement, so where ever you are, you can find what you need. Since we were planning another trip to Paris this year (2015), we got this newest edition. We are happy we did because there are a lot of new entries. Once again, it was our go-to book.

Review: I have only browsed and read a few pages from the book but I can tell that it is full of rich food & beverage information and where to find it. Each chapter has a small intro. That gives you the pertinent information on the topic; I like the one on Fromageries (cheese shops)

Review: No one can compete with Patricia Wells when it comes to writing about food in Paris. I used to love her restaurant reviews in the International Herald Tribune and there really is no culinary corner of Paris that she hasn’t discovered. This book is not just about restaurants, bistros, cafes and bars, but also the many specialist food shops and also Paris’s wonderful markets. A great reference book, but also a really great read or a book to dip into to pass an idle moment. Anyone who loves food or loves Paris or both will love this book.
