Title: Snappy word smithing
Review: Love the dialog between characters and character first person language. A fun, very down to earth kind of main character. Sometimes goes a bit over the top but don’t see it coming. No in your face behaviors or odd details that carry no obvious significance about things that aren’t pertinent to the story. I hope the Venice book( next on my winter read list) is just as good as the other two I’ve read.

Title: Enjoyable read
Review: This is the second in the “Good Thief” series (the first being The Good Thief’s Guide to Amsterdam). The characters in both books are engaging and the plotting is pretty good. I debated whether to rate this three or four stars and settled on four because I really did like the protagonist and, although a little quirky, the writing style flowed well. I wouldn’t call either of the two books I’ve read so far a “page-turner”, but that’s not what I was expecting anyway. The Kindle version of this book was better edited than the first, which had some typos. I’ll probably read the rest of the series.

Title: Entertaining and Definitely NOT Boring
Review: The people who say this book is boring must have very, very exciting lives. There is so much going on that I didn’t try to figure out what would happen next. I just let the events wash over me and enjoyed the book very much. Charlie finally meets his agent, Victoria. And, we find out that he suffers from gout in his finger joints which can interfere with his lock picking.I’ve ordered the third book and am hoping that it is as enjoyable as the first two.

Title: Strong Sequel!
Review: I actually liked this one even more than the first – although, I must admit that I thought that I would considering its setting! Who doesn’t love Paris??In addition, I thought that the plot was a lot stronger here, and the characters and their relationships were better developed. The humour was even funnier, too!All in all, this makes even more excited to continue reading the series! I am especially looking forward to the 4th book, set in Venice!

Dabei hatte alles so harmlos angefangen. The Good Thief’s Guide to Amsterdam”.

Review: This will be more of a review for the whole series. I have read each book, and together this must be one of my favourite ever series to read. I just hope in the future there’ll be more written!!All the books are highly amusing additionally making me laugh out loud sometimes! I love the ‘whodunit’ aspect, if you enjoy death in paradise on the BBC, you’ll enjoy this too.All the cities are described in wonderful detail and the characters are very well and deeply developed. The locations are interesting, as are all the people the ‘good thief’ meets. The plot is fast paced, and not once did I feel bored. Many surprises on the way kept the intrigue and mystery high. Not once did I guess who had dunnit before the end.I can’t praise this book, or the entire series, enough. I completely recommend to anyone and everyone!

Review: a diverting way to spend a few hours, the characters are pretty believable and the descriptive narrative makes you want to visit Paris. The plot is a wee bit see-through in places but it has plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing up til the end. Recommend the series.

Review: This is a well-thought-out story, which keeps you guessing all the way through. A likeable main character always helps enjoyment of the book, even if he is a thief! If I had to make a negative comment – the author’s inability to conjugate the two verbs ‘to sit’ and ‘to stand’ He will insist on writing, for example, “she was sat” when it should be âshe was sitting”. Yes, I know I’m being picky, but it annoys me and every time I come across it (and there are numerous instances) I wonder whether I will be reading another of the author’s books. Oh, and there is a difference between ‘disinterested’ and ‘uninterested’ in case Mr Ewan is reading this.All-in-all, a good read, almost unputdownable.

Review: The humour form the first book is here again. It’s a nice accompaniment to the plot and is usually at Charlie’s own expense. The plot is confusing in a good way (a lot happens and we are as lost as Charlie is, almost anyway) – I’m not going to try to explain it all because I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone who hasn’t read it, and I doubt I could remember all the twists if I tried. I was quite pleased not to have gotten the final twist – if I’d stopped to think about it I probably could have worked it out, but I didn’t want to stop I wanted to carry on reading. The book ends with some useful French translations which made me laugh out loud.
